green polyp leather. dying?

I had this leather on a plug in between a crack in the rocks. It started to grow on the rocks so I pull it off the rock nd put him down on the sand bed. Nd it nvr opened up again. It was quite attached but it came off competely nd not rip. It was half way on the plug complety attch tho. So the rip part isnt wut pulled off so disregard dat. My question is is it dyin or jus recovering

Personally I would have let it move onto the rock, unless you didn't want it in that location. My leathers will occasionally close up for a few days to she'd a slime layer, I think it is called sloughing but I'm not sure. Mine do this periodically or when disturbed. If this is the case it will be better in a couple days. You could look into this and see if that is what it looks like.
