Hammer coral detached

HI all had a hammer coral for about 2 months now was doing well come home today and part has detached and is hanging off but is still opening and closing what should I do cut hanging but off and will it regrow or leave it all tank is ok please help

Was it glued in place originally? You could just glue it back or cut it off to frag. I don't see any harm in either, but I'm far from an expert. Never owned one myself.
 
When you say detached you mean they fleshy part came all off and you are left with a skeleton and the fleshy part is floating around? Or did the flesh just disappear? To me that looks like a wall hammer skeleton.
 
No it wasn't glued the skeleton structure is still there but the polop bit has come unatached
