Hammer coral vs red crab help

I have a hammer coral.and recently I had bought a neon orange crab and I believe the crab tried to eat my hammer, I yhink something went on between the to. But my hammer looks bad and idk what to do. Like is there any hope, throw it away, I just dont know how to go about caring for it. Plz help.... when I first got my hammer it was great big and happy then a day after I added the crab my hammer has looked not very good. And my friend had gotten an emerald crab and it was attacking his feather duster. I asked the lfs owner and they said it was coral and reef safe so what the heck..

I would put the crab in your sump for now if yo have one. Coral skeleton looks cool, so why would you throw it away?

Well I wasnt 100% sure that if it did die it was possibly some what toxic

It doesn't look dead yet but it looks pretty unhappy so I say catch the crab and don't give up on the hammer.
