Three weeks ago my snotty sixteen year old daughter bought a brittle star for MY tank. Without asking - or telling me, she puts the starfish in, minimal aclimation. Didn't see the star for the last three weeks, she shows up yesterday without 4 of her 5 rays. The remaining ray is quite ragged, and my peppermint shrimp are all over her. I did see her eat, so she's at least doing that. What do I need to do for her? I know they regenerate quite easily, but what more can I do?

Water parameters:
Ammonia: 0
Nitrites: 0
Nitrates: 0
Salinity: 1.021
PH: 8.4
temp: 79 degrees

55 gallon
40 lbs. LR
12 blue leg hermits
5 tiny red leg hermits
10 assorted snails
3 peppermint shrimp
1 sally lightfoot crab
1 yellow tang
1 yellow tail blue damsel
1 lawnmower blenny
1 Sickly Brittle star
Aqua C Remora
Fluval 404 - LR rubble inside - using for circulation only
270 gph power head (don't know brand)
heater - not really needed in the desert

Life is good when the LFS quarantines for you !!!

Terry

Added an Aqua C Remora yesterday - working great!

All you can really do is keep water quality high and hope for the best. Moving the star would only do further damage.
Good luck!!

I would say QT it but according to quaaryshark that would be a bad idea but I would say do it anyways I mean it already lost 4 of its 5 rays and if the pepperment shrimp are all over it I think there is deff. something going on. Or maybe there is something picking at it I really do not know.
