HELP! Poorly goby :(
My yellow clown goby has been in the bottom corner of the tank all morning, barely moving. He's breathing, although quite fast, and he seems to be having a bit of trouble doing so.
He also has some torn fins, which seem to heal and then get torn again daily, for the past week or so. I tried target feeding and some food dropped right by him but he didn't even move. I've checked all my levels, and everything is good (0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, negligible nitrates, pH 8.1, SG 1.024). Everything else in the tank seems fine - shrimp, crabs, feather duster etc. What can I do to help him? |

ph is a little low, but that should not be the cause of this. What shrimp and crabs do you have? Most crabs are known for attacking fish, especially one that is so small. Being attacked would cause him stress, which might keep him from eating etc.

How long have you had him? What are you feeding him. You can try soaking his food in garlic guard.

My shrimp is a blood shrimp, my crabs are small hermits.
Ive had him for about 2-3 months, I feed him flake and frozen brineshrimp in garlic and spiriluna. He's moved a bit now to the top of the tank, but isnt moving around like he usually does, in his usual places. |

The first line of action should be a PWC. Pristine water is a must. Do you see any white spots on him.

Well I'm sorry to say that he's gone. I couldn't see him all day, and then I just found one of my crabs eating the dead body
I'd only done a PWC a few days ago, and all water parameters were optimal. No white spots on any of my fish. Everyone else looks fine (inc. shrimp/feather duster which apparently are the first to show signs of bad water quality). I don't know what happened to him - his fins were getting nipped a few times this past week, but that's all. He seemed to be eating ok, active |

I wonder why he died? Could it have been the stress from having his fins nipped over the past week or so?
