help with toadstool leather

been noticing my toadstool getting blotchy
it usually looks like this

now its looking like this
first picture is under blue light to show the blotchy look

now under normal light
with flash

without flash

Whats happening to my stool

water parameters are
Nitrite 0 ppm
Nitrate 1.0 ppm
Ammonia 0 ppm
PH 8.2
Temp 79*f
Salinity 1.025

It may be sloughing a layer. Try using a turkey baster and blowing on it and see if a thin layer of film comes off. If so try to remove as much of it as you can.
