Over last couple weeks I have noticed a couple dead hermits out of there shells also noticed the others have slowed down abit , also around the same time I have this outbreak of a red slime hairy type algae on the sand and lr Some of it stretches 4-5 cm high of the LR

Just wondering on thoughts on the deaths and controlling the algae

Parameters

75g tank

1.027 salinity
8.2 ph
0 ammonia
0 nitrites
0 nitrates
480 ppm calcium
26 degrees Celsius

Tank contents
2 clowns
1 decorator goby
1 orange star fish
1 yellow tang
1 chromis
6 hermits ( used to be 10 )
5 Astria snails
2 trochus snails

5 misc corals , hammer, torch , Duncan etc..

Will try and post pics of algae tonight

Maybe feed less often to control the algae.

As far as the hermits, do you have extra empty shells? They will kill each other for their shells when they outgrow their own, so it's good to have extra shells in the tank. Are you sure they are dead ... Hermits also molt.

Wish I could help more. I just lost a hermit randomly, but everyone else is fine in the tank.
