hermit crabs being found

Hermits being found outside of shell dead and Mabel missing some stuff? This is twice in 10 days. What could do this?

28 gallon nano cube cf. Two clowns, one manderin, was like 7 hermits and 7 snails.
8 corals.

I do 5 gallon weekly water changes and everything else seems to be doing great. Corals spreading, fish ok, battleing a little hair algea but other than that ok.

I have found two hermit dead over the last 8 or ten days out of they're shell and looking beat up. What could cause this? I have two clowns , a manderin , had seven hermits and seven snails, nine corals and all in a 28 gallon nano cube cf. Tanks been running about four months and every thing else seems to be doing good. Fish ok and coral frags spreading like crazy coraline growing good. Are these crabs signs of a crash in the brewing?

Are you sure they haven't just molted and you are seeing the old parts?

Found both in same spot how do you know if it's a molt?

You will see their old legs and what looks like clear skin.When they molt they actually pull out of their old body and leave it as a defense mech. Shrimp do the same thing.It is how they all grow.

If it iis not the reason why than usually when your inverts start dying its a sign of failing water perimeters.
