Seeing that ich is such a problem with some of our home systems, I'm wondering how fish deal with it out in the wild. Do they just succumb to it or fight it off with some natural counter measure that's out in the ocean.

Just wondering.

ich is a part of the natural eco-systems that fish come from. in the wild when a fish isn't healthy to start with they may succumb to ich parasites, and may or may not survive it. it functions much the same as our closed eco-systems...aka aquariums.

The ratio of ick in the wild is a whole lot less than our tanks also. In the wild they dont have to worry about bad water conditions or small or crowded enviornments or just plain neglect.
