How long to observe a new fish in qt.

I haven't been on in a while since I got more into the tank than research once I had things figured out. But I'm back with a question.

I have a kole tang in my qt for observation. I got him 2 weeks ago and he has been happy and healthy the whole time. He is eating nori like a pig and is active. He did not have any signs of sickness when I got him and neither did any other fish in the tank.

My question is how long should I observe before I can be fairly certain that he is ich free as well free from other diseases and parasites.

He seems fine in the 20 tall qt since he is fairly small but I obviously want to get him in the dt. My first concern however is keeping disease out of my dt.

short answer: 2-4 weeks.

I suppose I should do 4 weeks just to be safe. I can wait two more weeks. I'm really excited to get him in the dt.
