Hi,

My pH is reading at 8.5. One of my corals is looking a little sick, and all my other levels and so forth are fine.

How do I lower my pH?

Is that your morning pH or evening pH?

It's actually not unusual for pH to get that high at the end of the photoperiod, so you need to test at both these times to be certain it needs correction.

I would say the extremes could be as much as 7.9-8.5 depending on the time of day.

That is the evening pH. Are you suggesting that I should not be worrying about the pH?

If the extreme is 7.9 (low end) then surely I should be aiming to get my pH to 8.3 during the evening and maybe 8.1 in the morning?

How do I reduce the pH?

I meant it's somewhat normal for pH to be swinging between those values.. especially if you don't have a sump/fuge with a reverse lighting schedule.

The best way to correct pH is with water changes. But again, IMO you don't necessarily have a problem here.
