Leave the fish carcass in the tank to raise the ammonia more.

Well I disposed of the fish. I figured since it had ick that would be a bad idea to leave him in the tank. Is it a possibility that my tank may not actually be infested? He only had a few spots and he didn't die in the tank.

Do you know how long a tank needs to be empty before the ick can actually die off?

I believe it's about 3 or 4 weeks.

6-8 weeks

If there are no fish in the tank you start the 6-8 week countdown. As long as there is any fish in the tank it will just keep going and going.

+1 ,leave it fallow(no fish) for 8 weeks

Good luck, you at least had your ich scare a bit earlier in the tank maturation than I! Sounds like you're not really sure if it was ich, but might as well assume it was. Now you can just do a fishless cycle and be ready to go in 8 weeks. Couple of articles I've found that I really like:
