Probably not since the Cryptocaryon irritans parasites might be burrowed into the skin. Changing water will only help when the C. irritans is in the free swimming form.

I'll tell you what I think worked for me. I had a new tank and went through the same thing. Ich - fallow tank - reintroduce fish and more ich. Then I got two cleaner shrimp. Now when the ich comes around they go crazy cleaning the fish. My LFS also said to feed food soaked for 20 minutes in garlic. This seems to really work for me. A couple of weeks ago I had the last outbreak. I had a sailfin Tang who woke up covered in white spots. By the end of the day the shrimp had him almost completely clean. Next day he was covered again, again the shrimp went to work, the third morning he again had spots but not as bad, by the end of the day he was completely clean and for the past two weeks I have no sign of any problems. The shrimp do allot of gill cleaning which I thinks helps as well.

Well, I have two cleaner shrimps in my tank and they are rather lazy. Although my neon goby was hard at work, he too eventually infected as well.

The "kick ich" seems to be working... but you never know.

Soak in garlic juice? How does that help ICH?

You didn't add any fish to the treatment tank during hyposalinity did you? If hypo seemed to work and the spots came back after five weeks you must have missed something. If hypo wasn't working then you should have seen spots back on the fish within the first three weeks. Did you check the salinity every day? If the salinity was allowed to rise even one day during treatment then you have to start over again. How good is your eyesight? It is highly unusual for hypo not to work when it is administered correctly. This is especially true after five weeks with no sign of ich. Did you add any inverts to the tank or rock while the fish were in treatment.

No I didn't add any fish and my eye sight is fine. I have been checking the salinity everyday using a refractometer. And didn't add anything else during the treatment. Just can't understand it. But I would give it a try again the next time.
