I just got my first anemone 2 days ago. It looked great and full of color. I left for 5 hours and when I got back home it looked really bad. Is the anemone dying or is this normal? The photos are below and after.

Also, I did notice that there was some brown stuff coming out the center before I left. That does all this mean?

Thanks

This same thing actually happend to my bubble tip i was convinced it was dead so i took it back to my lfs and returned it the funny thing is i went back about a week later and it was perfectly fine, my guess is that its not used to your water or in shock, did you turn off your powerheads and lights when you put it in?

Sometimes when they "discharge" or poo, it's a big deal and they will close up and shrink and deflate, but then a few hours later, sometimes longer they are fine. Mine went through this and that's how I learned. My RBTA deflated and went into a ball for almost 10 hours, the next day, back to full no problem.

How did you acclimate it? It could be just getting used to its new home, of it was only 5 hours later. You got the right lighting? Established tank etc?

He had it for two days and left for five hours....

Mine I will notice deflates for a little while each day , pretty normal I think.

Thanks this makes me feel better. I have AI light and water is in great condition. Hopefully it will bounce back like everyone is saying

This happens to mine almost every day
I have a couple ideas
I have 3 bubble tips and two alternate doing this "flat" thing
I feel that maybe my clown fish rubs one alot so he may shrivel to get a break because they always come back up after a couple hours
One does it at night more so and one during the day more so
As well that one pic with the anemone kinda pulling up over himself usually happens when there eating maybe caught a piece of food floating

I've had it for five days. My clowns have not hosted in it yet but it keeps shrinking every day. When the lights are off its fine but when they're on for more than a couple hours he shrinks up. I turned down the lights a little so maybe this helps. I still don't understand if its a good or bad thing that he keeps shrinking.

I mean if he comes out normal frequently I would worry and has full colour
What kinda clowns is it because It depends on the anemone
My ocellaris clowns will not host anything
But my clarkis love all 3 anemones and sleep in it every night and are constantly in it

The pics I attached show u how variable my anemones are they change shape and size all the time
