Is this ich?

I just bought this 1 1/2 inch baby pufferfish today. Is this ich on his tail?

If your referring to the white on the tail fin it looks like a fungus to me. Ich would look like grains of salt on the fins and body.

Is it contagious? Can I cure it or does it go away on its own?

Fungus usually won't attack healthy fish. It would be best to remove the fish to a qt tank if possible to treat him.There are numerous treatments available out there.
