I am curious if running the lights while a fish has ich has any bearing on whether the fish survives or not? In other words will leaving the lights off help the fish fight off the parasite?

I dont think it helps. I know a while back someone told me that their LFS said leave the lights on 24/7 and will help. That did not work either as it just stressed the fish out more and they died quicker. IMO I dont think adding or decreasing light helps at all.

Never heard that lighting would make a difference. As Mike said it would stress the fish more. That's a very bad idea.

My puffer is new, so I have not yet established a light schedule for the tank. He seems to dislike bright light, and is most active with just natural room light, so I have been leaving it off for the most part.
