Just bought a maroon clown, he is eating okay, more the last two days than when he first got put in the tank, he was in with two blue devil damsels that got "beat up" by fish in our larger tanks. My clown seems to be laying on the bottom of the tank a lot, mostly when the lights are off, he does get up and is active but is this normal?

I'd say as long as he's eating normally, and not trying to gulp air or "breathe" in the water you should be ok. Could just be getting used to the new surroundings.
