Maroon linkia dissolves after 6 months?

Today I came home and found my maroon linkia with one leg 1/2 dissolved and nother tip just starting. I forgot to turn my AC on so I know my tank got up to at least 86 but all my fish/corals are doing fine. No large water changes or other problems lately. Not sure what could have caused this but I"m really fed up with linkia's.

I'm fed up with linkias also, we had the same problem with a blue and great sorces on another site belived this to be caused by improper acclimation even after I explained the time that had passed and my acclimation was a 2 hr drip I guess it should take atleast 4 hrs and it is common after 6 months. Now that I see it over again I question my fellow reefers acclimation process but what do I know, not enough to keep linkias.

Well, much to my surprise my marron linkia is still alive. I was sure he was a goner, arm started melting and working it's way towards the center, however it suddenly stopped as soon as it started and he appears to be doing great now. The tip is no longer white and he looks like he's healing well. Hope he keeps pulling through.

This is why I do not try them. Too many horror stories. IMO serpent stars, or maybe one like the orange (see gallery) seem to to quite well. I have 5 in my aquarium with no problems. Just no linkias.
Food for thought.
