when using melafix to kill bacteria, will it also kill all your nitrifying bacteria? should u turn a pump off when using melafix?

It won't harm your biological filter. I don't believe that Melafix is bacteracidal no matter what they claim. It may help prevent infection but I have never seen it help with any kind of healing. It is also a total mess to clean as it coats pumps, filters, etc... Make sure you turn off your protein skimmer and remove any carbon media before you use it.
