Hi guys,

My blue tang has successfully recovered from the head injury he obtained a few months back.

As of 4 days ago, he is acting very strange.

1. Not eating
2. Constantly laying flat under rocks
3. Not swimming

This is very unusual for my tang as it was the biggest eater in the whole tank and always darting around the tank.

My tank parameters are:

Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 0
pH- 8.3 give or take

All other tankmates are eating and not showing any signs of stress.

My blue tang has been in the tank for over 2 1/2 years and has never been sick.. He is about 6 1/2 inches - 7 inches.

Any ideas??

Nori, marine green, bloodworms, mysid shrimp, ocean plankton, brine shrimp, prawns (shrimp)..

Im afraid he is getting worse..

Just lying sideways not moving... Nearly a week now.. Not eating

Sorry , make sure of water parameters and do PWC frequently. And just maybe, I hope

It is possible, he went due to old age, if the water parameters were correct. Sorry to hear about your loss.

Sorry for your loss Matt :( Tangs usually live for 7+ years in captivity IME and it could have been an internal problem but as long as your other stock is healthy I wouldn’t be too concerned about its mysterious death.

sorry to hear, I would hate to loose my blue tang also my fav tank mate.
