Yesterday I found put that I had a nitrate spike in my tests, so I tried this pouch call algone and ever since then he's been like that and just starting today my cobia has been laying on the bottom. Is it because of the algone or the high nitrate level?

I would probably say it is because of the Algone. I have never heard of that stuff. Usually, a PWC helps get high nitrate levels down. I would have tried that before chemically trying to fix it.

With a combination of fish like that in a 55 gallon tank you`ll have high nitrates. You have alot of messy eaters there and you`ll need to do weekly 25% PWC`s and get a skimmer. The only way to eliminate nitrates is to cut back on feedings and PWC`s.

I have a skimmer and I've been doing this for awhile I'm no beginner. My nitrate level has dropped drastically over night so that's good I'm back on track thank you everyone.
