My QT tank came to life.....?????

I set up a QT tank a while back for a sick clown I had and after I took him out I kind of left the tank alone.

Well, when I set it up, I put sand in it and I also added a few pieces of branching tonga so the fish would have something to swim around. Well, the tank got hit with copper and then quick cure for about a month. after that I took the fish out and It went into my wifes tank. Since all that I have left the tank running in my study with a timer on the light and haven't even touched it for about a month I guess.

Now, I went into the study last night and looked in the tank ........... there pods running around on the rocks everywhere. I think I counted 5 or 6 feather dusters and one of the rocks has one of those filter clams on it. How is this possible? I thought that copper would kill everything except for fish, but the tank is exploding with life.

Any Ideas how this happened?

Interesting. Didja test the copper level when you were treating? Maybe it was real low. In addition, didja leave the carbon on your filter? That'd remove quite a bit.

Even still, I hear folks talk about how it stays in the system, gets in the rock and stuff and kills stuff down the road.

Think the CSI folks could figure this one out? I'm sure curious to know too.
