Hello, my blackback butterfly is having some kind of infection. On his left side, he has a patch of raised scales and his skin looks a bit discolored on that side. His right side looks perfectly normal! Any idea what this infection is and how do I treat it?

A clear pic would be needed for i.d. as this description could lead to many possibilities.

cant get pic

it's real weird. it looks like a bacterial infection

Does the animal still has an appetite? You may have to move it to a qt if the condition gets worse. How long have you had the fish? What other fish are in the tank? Any aggression issues you've noticed? Has the fish been acting differently than usual, scratching and such? Any white nodules on the edges of the fins at all? Any redness? Does the stomach look a little larger/swollen than normal?
