It may seem obvious, but make sure everything has a price on it and label all livestock. I recently visited a LFS for the first time. They had some of the nicest looking tanks I've seen and a wide selection of supplies, but virtually nothing had a price on it. None of the fish were labeled at all. No name, no price, nothing. Very frustrating. I've bought things I don't exactly need at the time because it was a good deal. I also would be very unlikely to buy anything if I have to find a salesperson and ask how much everything is. Needless to say, they didn't get any of my money. It's a shame because with a little organization they could have been a great store.
