New Feather duster

How long would it take a large feather duster to settle in? I've bought one (see pic)
Not sure if he's happy, as the fan comes out halfway then retracts.
It only comes out when there is a change of lighting too.
I've had it 24 hrs
All parameters low

Mine took a little time but I put it in a hole on on of the pieces of rock near the sand. Seems happy now.

That's a very pretty bristle worm! I have one just like it. Mine abandoned its tube and reappeared weeks later on the other side of the tank.
