okay to "install" fan worm tube-in-tube?

This is silly, but I had an empty tube from the base rock bin in my tank and got this nifty fan worm for V-day

his tube had a little bit of him out the "back" end, so I figured he was big for if not out-growing his current tube, if that is even possible... (I'm new to these guys)

SO here is what I did, he fit in pretty easily, no squishing but a snug fit... is this okay? the lfs just had them in the sand bed

Ok thanks Been. I see him in and out and no sign of illness.
I wasn't sure if they liked sand or needed both ends free or anything
