Is paraguard, which is made by seachem, effective in bare QT to treat ich, velvet, external bacterial infections, external fungal infections and external viral infections such as lymphocysts? I bought a bottle of it a while back and I want to try it next time I buy a fish to be QT'ed. I read the label and it said it could treat all the mentioned diseases. Is anyone familiar with this medication and has had positive results with it??? Thank you!

Personally I would never recommend treating a new fish prophylactically. The chances of using a treatment that has no affect on a given situation is quite high. As far as the Paraguard, I have no personal experience with this product but given the main ingredient is Malachite green, I seriously doubt it's affectiveness. I would also be skeptical of the claims made. Lympho cannot be cured by any med AFAIK.

Cheers
Steve
