poor clam

I posted a few weeks ago about a problem with my crocea clam. My fish and snails were attacking it. So I placed it in QT for acouple of weeks and then returned it to my display. It was doing good, opening back up and good color. None of it's tank mates were picking on it. This morning I came home from work to find about 10 reef hermits inside the shell eating my clam. It was almost all gone. I feel terrible. I hope it just died and the clean-up crew is just doing their job. Anyways, do I need to do a water change or will this not effect amonia since it is getting eaten so fast and not decomposing in my tank? I know the obvious is to test the water and I will get there, just wantedto get the ost done first. Thanks! Lando

Sorry for your loss I wouldn't worry too much about harming water quality, especially if the hermits took care of it in a 72g tank.

I have recently shifted towards hating hermits! I'm Not sure if they killed it though. JMHO
