Quarantine tank?

Hey my buddy's fish r all dying one by one every night or so it seems and it started cuz he got a fish that had a spot on it and the next day all the fish had lil white spots on them near their face and gills and they were all scratching so he tried treating the whole tank with a liquid ick treatment and they r still dying and he can't really afford to keep spending $50 a treatment so we were wondering if he could put the last 2 fish in a smaller quarantine tank and just treat that cuz it's less water to treat therefore less treatment needs to be used but will that work still? Or will the main tank still have something? Also what do u think it is that's killin them?

Sounds like ich. The links above will help you, but in a nutshell... "yes" to the quarantine tank, and "yes" that the main tank will still have something. If it's ich, the main tank has to remain fishless for 6-8 weeks to break the life cycle of the parasite. Here's the best, cheapest way to treat for ich...
