Red thing on feather duster

I all I wanted to see what this thing is on my feather duster I want to make sure it is not something that can hurt it.

Ok I do not have a better camera so I will explain in word. Is is about a half of an inch and has a little dot on the top is goes about 1/4 of an inch.
