Just bought a sailfin Tang two days ago. it was feeding and acting fine. I woke up this morning and fish was very lethargic and not feeding. I was told buy pet shop that the fish may be having a hard time adjusting to tank. Should I leave him in tank? What should I do? Any help appreciated.

Did you quarantine him before he went into the tank? Im guessing you didnt since you said you got it 2 days ago. Does it have white spots all over it?

I have a 75 gallon tank. The fish is a juvenile and very small. I acclimated him by putting him in a 2 gallon bucket and adding a half cup of aquarium water every four minutes. My water tests are as follows: Ammonia=0, Nitrite=0, PH=8.2, Nitrate 20. The salinity is 1.023. No white spots are noticable on the fish. He is just laying on the bottom of the tank.

He could be acclimating to the tank...does he have hiding places there? Are there other fish? My hippo did not swim around much until I put him in the main tank with the other fish...he hid most of the day.

Keep an eye on your other fish (if you have others) just in case it was a parasite.
Also to save from future heartache, you may want to qt new arrivals for a few weeks before you put them in your main. Will help to keep unwater illnesses out of you main.
Sorry for your loss. :(
