Hey, I've just noticed some small white spots on my carpenter's wrasse that look like little salt granules. Is this marine ick, or some other fungus? Is it common? Is there a treatment?
Tank:30 gal.
Salinity: @.023 ppm
Ph: 7.8
Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate all zero.
Temp: @79-80 degrees
Tankmates: Yellow tang, pajama cardinal, clownfish, some small crabs, cleaner shrimp.

Got a picture? I am no tang expert but I know they are prone to ich if they are stressed and being in a small tank that could be a possibility. How long has he been in there?

Double check and make sure it's not sand... Wrasses sometimes bury themselves in the sand and it may be from that... if no one else in the tank has white spots it might not be ich

Thanks, Wendy8184, I think that may have been the situation. The wrasse no longer has the "spots", and nobody else in the tank had them. A much easier solution than the alternative!
