sea urchin losing spikes

my sea urchin seems to be losing his spikes whats the cause what do i do?

Is it just one here and there? Or alot. They do break them off from time to time moving around the rockwork.

this usually means the urchin is not going to make it. The most common reason is poor water quality or improper acclimation. You might want to do some water testing.

Its a tough thing to recover from. May want to try some water changes to boost water quality. its really all you can do.
My Tuxedo just lost his spines and died after 2 years.

my urchin was a hithchiker from lr.com rock so im not out any money but i hate to see a living thing die. its not dead yet i did do a water change ill keep all you posted.
