shed or dead?

Hi

My sally was moving around eating like mad as usual, about 4 hours ago. I have just found him upside down on a rock. I know these look like they are dead but have actually shed there shells and have gone into hiding until there new shell hardens. From what i have read the shed shell usually looks a bit see through.
What do you think?

I had a reply on another forum saying that underneath the shell should be split is that correct? Doesnt seem to be split anywhere
