Hello From Daytona, I have a mature 120 gal reef tank with a lot of softies and a few hard corals. everything is looking pretty good but I need some help. I have a leather coral that I have had for many years. I decided to frag it for a friend and now it has what appears to be brown jelly and is not opening. Water parameters are great and the frag is doing fine. Someone told me to apply a petroleum jelly over the area and it would cure it. It's news to me but I certainly
Don't know everything. Any advice would be appreciated.

Iodine will be tough. It is attached to a huge rock that is below every other rock in the tank. I do appreciate the advice and that may be my last resort.

Try directing a bit a water flow over the Leather(power head or turkey baster). The mucus is defence related and nothing to worry about. The extra flow will disperse the mucus gently and allow the polyps to extend.
