sick or sleeping???

I recently had a fp clown and a camel shrimp die the same day. Now, my wife told me that while I was at work, the fish were seemingly fighting. The descriptions are in my signature and my parameters are fine. I came home after work at 1 am to feed them (my wife refuses to touch frozen food) and they would not eat...even though they hadn't eaten all day. My angelfish was sitting perfectly still partially under a rock when I turned on the light. Is he just sleeping or is he ill or possibly dead? Just a little curious as to how fish sleep.

my trigger and puffer both lay on the bottom behind something and look totally dead. the trig lays flat on his side.
