Sick Panther Grouper

Please help. We have a Panter Grouper, have had him for about 4 years, in an 80 gallon tank. He stopped eating about 3 weeks ago and now his eyes are bulging, they have some sort of film over them and he is running into the glass now. He really isn't looking good. We tested the water quality and it is good, but he is not snapping out of this. Need a little advice as to whether this could be an illness or old age?

Could be a little of both however, just old age I would think wouldn't be the cause of this... It sounds as if it has got popeye. This is usually caused by irritation to the eyes... I would do a good 35% water change to lower the amounts of DOC's in the water, then drop the lights to half cycle for 14 days or so.... It should clear up... If it doesn't show signs of clearing within 5 days or so, treatment may need to be done with antibiotics.....HTH
