My purple pseudochromis has a white bump on one side right around the back fin that is under his body. He is clearly rubbing it against rocks. Please advise me on what I can do to try and cure him.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Can you describe the texture of the bump? Salt-grain like? Sounds like it could be ick.

Do you have a QT? Refractometer?

Sorry, I didn't describe it very well. It definitely isn't ick as I have dealt with that several times before. It is like his side is swollen. It is a lump.

Is his whole side swollen, or is there a distinct lump?

Swelling: likely an infection.

Lump: probably a parasite I am not familiar with.

It is definitely just a lump. The lump is clearly whiter around the purple fish.

I have only had the fish about a month.

Also, it seems to be getting better.
