I gravitate away from the idea of "trust me because I'm the guru."

I dont see where anyone here has been saying that. One thing that is valuable is other people`s experience. I`m not saying who you have to believe but dont discount other folks experience which is just as valuable.

Not to discount others opinions and experiences, but you can eliminate enough copper from a system through a series of thorough washings and be able to keep invertebrates alive; however, is it really worth the hassle for a 20-30g? If you plan to march on, numerous washings of products and liverock while retesting for residual copper would be advised.
