how do I know if my snails are dead? With a fish, not swimming is a good indication, but my turbo and ceriths just kinda sit around all day anyway. How long do these snails live? When they do die, should I remove them? Does my coral banded shrimp pose any sort of threat to them?

some snails wont move much if at all during the day others will move all over.
Take the snail out and smell it... trust me you will know if the snail is dead..
How big is the tank? In most tanks 1 or 2 snails dying is not a big deal your clean up crew will eat them....

with snails, in my opinion is just a case of chance, i recently put 4 turbo snails in my tank - 3 survived and are still cleaning away happily, and the other died (it got a mirky-white bubble like thing around it and is now just a shell :(

well, I'm sure they're not dead now. But I figured that in the future I may be fooled. I'm mostly curious about how long I can expect them to live.
