strawberry crab: dead or molt?

We have a 92 gal reef tank. Today I saw the top part of the strawberry crab's shell laying on the ground. I rarely see the crab and today was no exception. Is this likely part of a molt? I thought a molt would be the entire shell, not just part of it. Also, should I remove it?

It is the whole crab. Probably the fish were picking at it
