Tang trouble

Having a hard time keeping tangs of different types. They always development lateral line or fin rot. Installed a ground probe before last addition(convict tang)and it still developed it. Heard carbon in the filter can cause this as well. Any truth to this?

Yes low grade carbon and carbon dust has indeed been linked to hlle in fish.

Yep. I first learned of it from the kid at my LFS. I was describing what my tang looked like, and that was it. There are all kinds of papers written on it..
