Thin film coming off my leather

My new leather coral is shedding a very thin film, looks almost like it has been shrink wrapped. It also displayed polyp like lumps
Is this the norm?

It also opens and closes quite often
 
It's normal I think. Mine does the same thing but it seems to be when stressed. It seems to happen if something walks across to pushes ect. From reading I think it's part of them growing too. Maybe someone with more knowledge will chime in.
 
When they do grow they remove a layer from them. putting some flow on it will help it shed and remove it quicker.
 
I use a syringe to just suck off the slime when it starts peeling off. That way the leather is happier faster and there no slime floating into my filter.
