My yellow goby is hiding behind the rock, but he comes up occasionally. There's this blueish purple crustacean type thing attached to one of his fins and it's impeding his swimming. I can't get him to get it off, but I don't like the looks of this.

Any ideas on what it is and how to get it off?

Yup. I can't say exactly, but that's very much what it looks like.

I can't get a pic of it, and I don't know what to call it to research it. :)

It seems like it's an isopod and they suck a lot. Not really sure how, mostly cuz I can't catch the goby. :)

About 2 hours after finding it, the pod has detatched itself from my goby. Now the fish is not using his right fin and is spending his time hiding. Usually during the day (for two days...I only got him Wednesday) he'll hang out at the front of the tank not doing much. My plan is to set a trap for these meat eaters to see if I can't catch any. If the goby looks bad tomorrow, I will set up a QT and medicate.

If it's wath I posted you want to catch all you can and get them out of the tank. Do some research on cirolanids.
