Last night my yellow tang had a half inch cirolanid isopod on it's anal fin. When I tried to remove it, it wouldn't come off. The tang wasn't out of the water long, but was showing signs of stress. I felt rushed and used my fingers to remove it. As I pulled it off it tore a straight line between the spines on the tangs anal fin.

This morning it is active and eating. It seems to be same as usual. Is there anything I should worry about or do?

The last thing I wanted to do is put it back into the tank and have it release.

It should heal as long as the water specs are good. Make sure you keep up weekly water changes with well aged SW. Wouldn't be a bad idea to do one anyway just to be sure the DOC is as low as possible. Monitor the fish to be sure there is no discoloration or reddening around the wound. Bacterial and fungal infections will be your biggest concern. Feed the fish foods soaked in Selcon or Zoecon to augment the immune system.

If all goes well, no treatment should be needed at all.

Cheers
Steve
