I had this exact thing happen with my tang. At this very point, I did about an 80% water change and left it alone. I was so sure he was dying, if not dead. I came back a few hours later and he was up and moving.

The water in the QT can go bad really quick. I'm so sorry for your loss

I'm learning that "panic mode" (aka human error) seems to kill more fish than any virus or bacteria

I gave up on the QT and started moving my fish back in the DT as the QT was just too much. (Except for my wrasse who now has no fins left )
