Using Copper in QT. What to do with Carbon?

I have a new clownfish in a QT. I think it has ick. So I will treat with Copper. I have hob filter running carbon. During the Copper treatment I have read that I should take the carbon out, but does that mean that I can still leave the hob filter running with the mesh that holds the carbon?

As long as the carbon is removed, you can run the filter with the floss to provide some mechanical filtration. It won't hurt anything.
