i didnt not see any major red marks on the tang...maybe very marginal on his back by the fins..but very marginal..you really need to look hard to see that...I had the baggie he came in sitting in the tank for atleast 2 hours before i dripped the tank water little by little for the next 2 to 3 hours..after that he was relased into the tank
