wellso not opening.

I've had this guy for a few months recently a yellow dwarf angel has been "kicking" sand up on it and now it doesn't open during the day at all even though the angel hasn't been so mean lately. At night it hyperinflates, I have never seen its sweepers and neither had the guy I got it from. When i first got it I tried to drop food in its mouth but it never really took anything.
Is there any reason it would open at night and not during the day, should I even be concerned?
