What causes ich?

I know that ich are mostly from unquaratine fish bought from the LFS, but what actually causes ich before that?

Ick is a common parasite, it comes in with the fish, ick is not a problem in the ocean, because it is an open system, it is only in a closed system that the parasite becomes deadly.
